Reddit GEO: turn community questions into evidence for content intent

Record the situation, question, constraints and objections in specific discussions. Infer a useful topic instead of copying words from a thread.

Start with a problem, not a place to put a link

Reddit discussions can reveal how people describe a problem. They are not a search-volume database or certification of product claims. Start with a concrete task: “I want to turn used bottles into glasses, but I am worried about uneven edges.” It contains a situation, intended outcome and objection that a bare product keyword misses.

Choose a relevant community and read its rules, pinned guidance and complete discussions. A popular reply may apply only to one material, budget or skill level. Votes do not establish general consensus, and a community member’s experience is not a performance test you conducted.

Save enough evidence to retrace each observation

Record the permanent thread URL, community, publication date, access date, original question and only the short excerpt needed for analysis. Separate the person’s situation, attempted solutions, constraints and conflicting suggestions. Keep public personal information out of customer content unless it is necessary and appropriate to the task.

Field Illustrative entry Useful inference
Original question “The edge is uneven. Would an electric machine help?” The person is comparing a tool change with a process problem
Constraints Beginner, small batches, varying glass thickness The answer needs conditions and limits
Objection “Power does not solve every separation problem” Explain the steps beyond choosing a machine
Unverified claim Whether a model accepts a particular diameter Check manufacturer information or a suitable test

These are template examples, not collected Reddit evidence. Do not combine invented examples and live quotations into an apparently completed research report.

Infer a keyword and a task from the decision

Keyword selection requires reasoning about what the reader needs to decide. The same discussion could suggest “is an electric bottle cutter suitable for beginners?” or “how to troubleshoot an uneven bottle cut”. The former is a purchase decision; the latter is troubleshooting. They need different answers, even when some vocabulary overlaps.

For each candidate, write the primary intent, main phrase, supporting concepts, necessary evidence and questions outside the scope. Check the existing website before proposing another page. Improve an existing answer where appropriate. Replacing a few words with synonyms does not create a new intent. Recurring community questions can signal demand, but search volume and ranking difficulty require separate evidence.

Make a community reply useful on its own

Before drafting a public reply, check whether the community permits brand participation, promotion and external links. Explain your relationship to a product. Answer the original question in the reply, including conditions and limitations. Add a link only where it is permitted and supplies relevant supporting detail. Not every discussion is an appropriate place for a product homepage link.

Do not impersonate an independent customer or invent product experience. Do not organise votes or repeat near-identical promotional replies. Multiple drafts should represent different questions and evidence, not the same sales paragraph with a new introduction. A draft is not a submitted post, an approved contribution or a verified backlink.

Use later observations to improve the topic map

After publishing a website article, record its canonical URL, question answered and substantive changes. For AI observations, save the exact prompt, model, date and cited links. If a Reddit thread appears in an answer, inspect which specific claim it supports. It does not prove that your website was indexed or that your product was recommended.

Merge topics when several discussions point to the same reader task, retaining the underlying evidence. Update an existing answer when a new limitation or objection emerges. The measurement guide explains how to keep community exposure separate from citations and business outcomes.
